Partners in Practice
December 25, 2022
Early Christmas morning—we got up early so we both can practice: him, skateboarding, me, photography.
One of the many things I admire and love about him is how he just shows up to do things, without expectations, without fear of being “bad” at it, without worrying about how he is being perceived by others. He shows up to practice, to enjoy, to do the thing because he likes it.

“Sometimes I feel like I’m getting better at photography, but most times, I feel like much of what I create just sucks,” I confided in him one time.
Without missing a beat, he says, “Well, that’s what practice is supposed to feel like.”
